Horticultural Therapy (HT) and Therapeutic Horticulture (TH) use plants, gardens, and the natural landscape to improve cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
The Canadian Horticultural Therapy Association (CHTA) promotes the use of horticultural therapy and therapeutic horticulture for diverse populations and in a wide variety of settings.
The CHTA is a non-profit organization incorporated in May, 1987. The CHTA works to advance HT education and practice across Canada. It has a membership base of over 175 individuals and institutions located in Canada, the United States, and internationally.
The CHTA Goals are to:
- promote and advance the use of horticultural therapy in Canada
- develop guidelines for HT and TH education programs
- provide information about HT and TH via this web site
- manage support services for its members
