Horticultural Therapist position - British Columbia
Guildford Seniors Village in Surrey, BC is looking for a part-time contract Horticultural Therapist for our complex care facility. The horticultural therapist will work as a member of the therapeutic recreation team and will be responsible for the development and implementation of horticultural programs that focus on the holistic needs of the residents. The successful candidate will have a certificate, post-secondary degree, or diploma in horticultural therapy or related horticultural program. The position is three hours per week at a rate of $30 per hour. The horticultural therapist will provide small group and 1:1 programs on both our extended care and dementia units. Experience in older adult and dementia care a benefit.

Strathmere Lodge immediately requires a part-time (contract 4-6 months) Horticultural Therapist in our Long Term Care Home. 4 hours per week. Rate of pay to be negotiated. The successful candidate will have a certificate, post-secondary degree or diploma in Horticultural Therapy or related Horticulture program from an accredited institution. The Horticultural Therapist will offer small and large group programs to meet the individual needs of our residents related to horticulture and leisure. The Horticultural Therapist is responsible for the ongoing development and management of the Horticultural Therapy program.

Horticultural Therapist – Recreation Therapy and Creative Arts Therapies
Full time (reduced) opportunity for a Horticultural Therapist to work in Recreation Therapy and Creative Arts Therapies in the Veterans Centre. The Horticultural Therapist will be responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Horticultural Therapy Program for residents in the Veterans Centre. Participation in educational activities and other duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Horticultural Therapist Registered (HTR) required
- Member in good standing with the Canadian Horticultural Therapy Association
- Competencies (skills) in horticulture, design features of a therapeutic space, and sound horticultural therapy practices
- Responsible for the design, clinical assessment, implementation and documentation of horticultural therapy sessions
- Provide individual and group horticultural therapy sessions in the greenhouse and Veterans Centre garden areas
- Previous experience working with geriatric population preferred
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of an inter-professional team
- Knowledge and support of the concepts of Patient focused Care
- CPR Certification at the Basic/Rescuer Level preferred
- Ability to provide clinical supervision to students/interns required
